"Of journeying the benefits are many: the freshness it bringeth to the heart, the seeing and hearing of marvelous things, the delight of beholding new cities, the meeting of unknown friends, and the learning of high manners."
- Sadi Gulistan

These past few weeks saw winter arriving in full force! The heater is on in the office and the fires are burning in the lobbies of most (decent ;-) hotels. I find the Beyerskloof Pinotage needs stocking up more regularly nowadays, and the Medium Cream KWV Sherry seems to be very popular welcome drink as well. Oh the delights of living in the Cape Winelands!

With winter we also herald the arrival of our favorite visitors from the Antarctic - the Southern Right Whales.  The first ones have been spotted in Plettenberg Bay, and soon we should be able to admire them from the coast in Hermanus as well. This past weekend we headed up to Wilderness and Knysna, and did a few sight inspections, as well as a cruise to the Featherbed Nature Reserve - it was awesome, I love the Garden Route - there's good reason we call it the "Gem of South Africa".

Talking about Educational Trips - we hosted a few agents pre- and -post Indaba, and all enjoyed themselves thoroughly, and all are taking back valuable product knowledge.  There's no better way to sell a country than to actually get to know it first hand. Indaba went well, as always we had a great time, picked up a few great new products, saw our trusted suppliers and enjoyed some lovely weather in Kwa Zulu Natal. It really is an all year round destination - always warm with amazing beaches and excellent game lodges close by.

Early June we head up to Sabi Sands again for another Educational, where we will be viewing as many lodges as humanly possible, staying at Singita, Londolozi, Savanna & Ulusaba. Then we head back to the Financial capital of South Africa, Johannesburg (or Egoli, city of gold) for a few more sight inspections and updates on what's hip & happening in Gauteng.  We will of course give you full feedback on our experiences.
