"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime."
- Mark Twain

South Africa is on a roll, new places opening, lots of amazing events taking place and gearing up for more bumper years ahead. Alive with possibilities and positively South African!

Breaking news in Cape Town is the opening of Madam Zingara's Theatre of Dreams. The award-wining restaurant Madame Zingara was one of Cape Town's best loved gems until the restaurant went up in flames in a freak accident in September last year. Due to a shortfall in the insurance pay-out Madame Zingara found itself unable to re-open last year. But this didn't stop the team from finding a way to continue spreading their magic. They acquired an antique dinner-and-dancehall tent... The amazing tent of dreams was built in 1928 and is one of only a handful left in the world today. Diners can expect a menu composed of delicious fare and dazzling array of entertainment, including mesmerizing trapeze artists, stilt walking, knife juggling fawns, magicians, snake dancers, tarot card readers, dancing and more. The Madame Zingara Tent of Dreams will set up house on Cape Town's Foreshore for 6 months and will then make its way through South Africa. A large chunk of the proceeds will go to the Reach for a Dream charity organization.

Authorities said they were still assessing the full scale of the damage and the likely cost of reconstruction. The EU, UNICEF and CARE were among the agencies sending in relief supplies. South Africa sent two government ministers into the disaster area and said it was ready to provide material assistance, including helicopters to transport food to the temporary accommodation centers. We are being updated regularly by the lodges in the affected area (such as Benguerra Lodge & Indigo Bay), where they have already started rebuilding.
